Letter to the Editor: "He agrees"
Why are coal jobs constantly under attack in the Ohio Valley? Whether it is the focus on renewable energy, increased regulatory restrictions imposed by the EPA or the proliferation of gas plants, coal jobs are getting cut every day.
Why are gas plants given such large tax incentives? I understand that politicians want to take credit for creating jobs but how can you take credit for creating one job when you are just eliminating someone else's job? That is exactly what happens when gas plant jobs start, coal jobs end. This is a losing proposition for our region.
I strongly oppose giving gas plants a special deal which threatens the livelihoods of so many citizens of the Ohio Valley who work hard and pay their taxes. Politicians should be supporting all domestic energy production, not giving one industry an advantage over another. I hope the Marshall County Commission as well as other county commissioners will also come to their senses before it's too late and oppose these special deals.
